Overview

The Nurse Manager shall assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care

delivered to the patients. The Nurse Manager shall work with the director to implement and to adhere tovthe established policy and procedures and the systemic clinic changes. In the absence of the Director, maintains the general responsibilities of the Director.

 

 

Responsibilities

Budget

-Develops the department staffing pattern to meet the needs of the patients, within budget

parameters.

 

Compliance

-Initiates the development and implementation of patient care standards, policies and procedures

to be in compliance with regulatory requirements.

-Maintains the health center/department to DOH surve - y readiness at all times.

-Develops, reviews and revises policies, procedures and other applicable operational

documentation to ensure regulatory agency standards are met.

 

Documentation

-Directs the processes that facilitate the completion of required documentation, I.e. physician

orders, reassessments, etc.

 

Employee Development

-Provides leadership and direction to personnel in accordance with organizational/ILS/RHCF

goals and mission.

-Maintains the highest level of customer service.

-Assures effective communication with the client/resident, family, and interdisciplinary team.

-In cooperation/colaboration with QAPI/QA dept. directs the data collection of all complaint

investigations,incident reports & critical incident investigations, summarizes information & takes

action after consultation with Director/QAPI/QA committee.

-Monitors adherence to the patient care standards through QAPI/QA process. Is actively

involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of QAPI/QA activities. Services as

an active member of the QAPI/QA committee.

-Keeps Director informed of patient care problems and issues.

-Ensures the orientation, reorientation, health assessment, inservice requirements of each

employee are met.

-Regularly conducts and documents staff meetings, to gather and disseminate information and

posts minutes for staff.

-Informs Director of personnel activities and problems on a timely basis.

Schedules staff in a manner that promotes optimal client/resident care and appropriate use of

staff.

-Counsels employees, taking appropriate educational and/or disciplinary action inclusive of

termination, as necessary.

-Conducts timely staff performance appraisals.

-Participates in recruiting activities, interviews applicants, and hires staff.

-Interprets policies/procedures/regulations for the staff.

 

Revision Date

-Fosters problem-- solving abilities to staff.

-Assures the orientation process of all new employees; maintains and updates orientation

materials.

-Plans, implements, and evaluates the on-going educational needs of the staff.

-Actively participates in department and facility meetings and task forces as rquested. Active

member of QAPI/Quality committees.

-Supports facility management and staff by facilitating change in a positive manner.

-Ensures a safe and secure environment for clients/residents, staff, and visitors.

-Provides for the on-going evaluation and achievement of staff clinical competencies.

-Shares current knowledge and up-to-date clinical expertise with staff through formal and

informal education.

- Takes responsibility for own education and stays clinically current.

-Promotes a cohesive, productive supportive relationship between Director and self.

-Effectively utilizes the couseling process with employees including significant issues after being

reviewed with the Director.

-Completes a monthly staff time schedule utilizing staff effectively; also approves staff time off.

-Analyzes the problems, plans resolution strategies, implement plans and evaluates outcomes.

-Under the direction of Director, the Nurse Manager utilizes management and administrative

skills to accomplish corporate,department and facility goals.

-Acts as the clinical liaison to other Loretto facilities and programs regarding client/resident

needs, etc. Case manages complex patients situation in collaboration with other members of

interdisciplinary team.

-Performs other duties as may be required.

 

Resident Care

-Supervises the clinic care planning process to ensure the coordination and delivery of quality

patient care.

-Oversees the collaboration process/case management required to meet the critical needs of

each client/resident.

-Best practice guidelines.

-Manages the delivery of patient care, maximizing quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

-Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college or university for Registered Professional Nurses.

-Must possess a current NYS license and registration as an RN.

-A minimum of 2-4 years of recent acute/long-term care management and physician office experience

preferred.

-Experience in team structured environment

-Proficiency in the care planning process and office practice management preferred.
