The Residence Counselor provides training for residents geared toward independence in all activities of daily living. The Residence Counselor must meet category-one physical requirements.
Accepts assignments from the Site Supervisor. Completes shift responsibilities daily. Serves as role model to residents with psychiatric disabilities to encourage increased independence. Medication supervision of resident self-administration, following agency practices. Documentation relating to medical and social condition of residents. Fulfills role as primary advocate for residents as assigned by Case Manager/Supervisor. Trains and assists residents in daily living skills to promote skill-building and independence.
High School diploma or GED. CPR and First Aid. Must possess a valid, clean NYS Driver’s License. Positive, customer-focused attitude. Experience in human services preferred. Flexibility and cooperation. Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and listening). Willingness to perform extra duties as needed. Ability to work effectively within a team. Ability to work effectively independently. Ability to work under stress, amid frequent interruption. Ability to meet deadlines.
