  • Overview

    Supervise and manage all Dietitians, Diet Technicians and Diet Clerks to assure adherence to corporate policies and procedures. Oversee the evaluation, assessment and planning of resident’s or participants nutritional status. Oversee the staffing functions of the diet office.


    • Provide input for budget development and tracking
    • Comply with State and Federal safety, health and sanitary regulations.
    • Assure that all policies and procedures are followed, and regulatory guidelines are met.
    • Assure Nutrition Department adheres to all relevant regulations.
    • Audit documentation for accuracy and completion and provide correction and education as required
    • Effectively support all corporate goals and initiatives through goal setting and monitoring for progress.
    • Participate on corporate committees as needed.
    • Perform required nutritional assessments.
    • Maintain adequate follow up for High Nutritional Risk residents/participants.

    • Perform required Tube feeding, Weight loss, Initial, and skin assessments.
    • Write Tube Feeding orders and make recommendations to MD/NP.
    • Generate and update resident care plan.
    • Address all acute clinical issues per policy.
    • Address all nutritionally pertinent lab values.
    • Monitor dietary intake of assigned residents through observation at meal times.
    • Participate actively on regional health care teams to provide observation and assessment regarding physical, mental, nutritional and psychosocial status of residents. Assure nutrition care plan is integrated into the interdisciplinary care plan.

    • Provide diet counseling to residents, resident families, friends and staff regarding dietary restrictions.

    • Coordinate swallowing evaluations with Speech Therapy.
    • Provide on-call weekend coverage
    • Assist/Coach Diet Technicians with clinical assessments.
    • Maintain Continuing Education Credits by attending seminars and training sessions and share information with staff
    • Assist with training newly hired RDs and DTs.
    • Provide cross-coverage for other RDs
    • Participate on committees as assigned
    • Act as preceptor to dietetic students from area colleges/universities.
    • Attend all scheduled staff, team, committee, food council meetings and round
    • Participate in mock/regulatory survey activities.
    • Participate in the Quality Assurance Program and conduct audits as assigned.


    • B.A or B.S in Dietetics from an accredited AND (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) academic institution
    • 3-5 years clinical experience, preferably in a long term care experience
    • 1-2 years supervisory experience in a similar capacity
    • Registered Dietitian in good standing with current membership in AND (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics)
