  • Overview

    The Dining Manager is responsible for the daily success of dining operations and customer service experience of the Dining Services Department. Ensures customer service and satisfaction with efficient, cost effective management. Responsible for all food service-related activities, including but not limited to quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and superior service delivery.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Consistently provides an enjoyable dining experience and ambiance for residents and guests through exceptional service.
    • Schedules dining service staff for sufficient coverage to prepare and serve food to residents and guests.
    • Ensures that all codes, regulations, policies and procedures are enforced as they pertain to dining services.
    • Monitors Kitchen and Dining Room cleanliness, ensuring a clean environment.
    • Ensures food is prepared and served per menu, maintaining proper temperature and controlling portion size. Also ensures food is served with proper presentation and at proper temperature.
    • Ensures residents receive diet as ordered by their physician and that diet roster is correct at all times. If substitutes are made and approved by the Registered Dietitian, ensures they are similar to food on the menu and that the menu is revised accordingly.
    • Ensures program is survey ready at all times. Actively participates in surveys and annual inspections made by government agencies.
    • Supports and participates in all Quality Assurance (QAPI) initiatives.
    • Submits payroll for processing. Audits for accuracy.
    • Plans and develops menus as necessary.
    • Submits employee accident reports as required.
    • Responsible for safety in the kitchen through training and a properly maintained, clean work environment.
    • Develops and monitors adequate inventory controls.
    • Receives and resolves complaints concerning food and service using patience, active listening, and positive communication.
    • Completes department audits to ensure the immaculate appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures. Corrects or reports deficiencies and maintenance concerns.
    • Conducts scheduled staff meetings.
    • Ensures that local and state laws, policies and procedures for the service of food, beverage and alcohol are consistently followed and understood.
    • Performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by Dining management. Assists with special events, celebrations and projects.
    • Works every other weekend, holidays and special events as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree or related experience preferred. High School Diploma required.
    • 2+ years supervisory experience in food service operations.
    • Serve Safe certification desired.
    • Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cos controls, and presentation.
    • Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills.
    • Communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with residents, families and guests who may have physical, sensory and cognitive impairments.
    • Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills.
    • Proficient computer skills to include various computer programs, MS Office programs, email, and the internet.

     

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
