    The Nottingham, CNY’s Premiere Retirement Community, is now hiring for a Director of Skilled Nursing!!!

    The Nottingham Director of Nursing provides oversight of all clinical services for a 40 bed unit provided by all professional and paraprofessional staff. The Director of Nursing plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines. Ensures that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.


    Top Job Duties Specific to this Position:

    • Directs nursing practices to assure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient care and services by staff.

    • Responsible for resident care planning processes, meetings, updates and changes as necessary.

    • Develops methods for coordinating an interdisciplinary approach to the residents' total regime of care. Acts as an integral part of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) with a goal of providing optimal care.

    • Actively rounds on the unit daily. Oversees Nurse Administration and delegates responsibility fairly. May provide direct nursing care or supervision if necessary.

    • Supports residents and families as needed.

    • As a Director, this individual has full responsibility for an organization-wide function or service.

    • Recognized as the in-house expert or lead person for the function or site. Develops and executes strategy, policy and tactics for the site or function. Keeps current in his/her area of specialization, applicable regulations and in management trends.

    • Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination in managing the daily operations of their function or site, including performance management, scheduling, orientation, and training. In partnership with Human Resources, makes or approves recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, disciplinary actions, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in partnership with HR.

    • Promotes and encourages teamwork among employees and managers, and between departments. Communicates ideas and goals clearly and is an effective listener. Ensures that information is efficiently communicated and shared throughout the organization. Fosters constructive feedback and effective coaching.






    • 10 years’ experience in an acute care, long term, eldercare, or similar facility.
    • 5+ years’ experience in nursing management or leadership.
    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Masters in Health, Nursing or a related field desired.
    • BS in Nursing or related field required.
    • Ability to manage, guide and motivate staff while carrying out the duties of an RN.
    • Proven decision-making, organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to analyze problems, plan resolution strategies, implement solutions and evaluate outcomes.
    • Effective conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to be available 24/7 to handle on-call responsibilities.


    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
